WOMAN TO WOMAN,
THIS SAYS IT ALL:
Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.
BUT.........
Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many
miles are between you. A girl friend is never farther away
than needing her can reach.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to
walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the
valley's rim, cheering you on, encouraging you, pulling for you,
intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms
at the valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside
you...Or come in and carry you out.
Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law,
sisters, sisters-in-law, mothers, grandmothers, mothers-in-laws,
aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life!
The world wouldn't be the same without these women, and neither
would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we
had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay
ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.
Every day, we need each other still.
If you wish, pass this on to the important
women who help make your life meaningful.
It's short and very sweet:
"There are more than twenty goddesses in
this world. Ten are presently resting in their
bowers. Nine are active. And one
is reading this message at this moment."
Send this message to no more than ten of the important and valued
women you know in your life. Don't worry about how few women
you share it with. Share this message only with whoever you think
will genuinely like recieving it.
If you get 5 replies, someone you love will surprise you.
Happy days! :D
Folklore discussion:
I'm saving this in Folktales and Stories because it is a form of folklore...though not actually a story or summery of a story. Plus, it is actually an inspirational message which I personally liked. This inspirational message is one of the e-mail versions of the old-fashioned s-mail "chain letter." However, this email doesn't solicit money, promise money, or insist that you must send it to "100 people" or "everyone on your mailing list" under threat of "bad luck." (I do not approve of threats of bad luck.)
I have emailed it out to some Pagan women in the past--and as some of them were Wiccan priestesses, I've decided to preserve it in the folklore section of my "Yet Another Wicca Site."
I have always been fascinated by women referring to one another as "goddesses" when this creeped from the New Age/Feminist Goddess worshippers/Wiccan communities into more mainstream realms. For example, "Shoe-Goddess," "Bitch Goddess," "Barn Goddess," "Martini Goddess," and "Teddy Bear Goddess."
Versions of this message, titled "This says it all," circulated the net in 2009. I saw another version in 2008 that refered to "angels." It's an inspirational message designed to be sent from a woman to a woman.
It's a good message. If you are a woman who wants to share it with just one woman--or as the message states "no more than ten" women--feel free to do so.
