Put the lime in the coconut--with yogurt--and mix it all up...
Add all the other ingredients, then mix in a blender.
Comments: Smoothie recipies in a blender are a very flexible food. Adjust the amount of yogurt to coconut water and grape juice to acchieve your
desired thickness. (I usually more, rather than less bananas, in any smoothie). You can experiment with chopped mango or a drop of honey. Some people
add things like fresh spinach leaves or protein supplement powder.
Smoothies began to be popular in the USA in the mid-to-late1960's. The "health food"/ "organic cooking"/"excercise"/"yoga"/"vitamins"/"health craze" in the mid 1970's resulted in yogurt becoming a popular food. Eventually yogurt became a common ingredient mixed into healthy smoothies.
I drank up a bunch of yogurt smoothies in my teen years in the 1970's, enjoying them as a quick, easy, wholesome treat.
Natural foods were part of healthy mind and body concepts embraced by some folks interested in alternate spiritualities in the 1970's. Not that every body in the 1970's, who was "into" health food, organic food, excercise, healthy diets, vitamin and mineral supplements, was "into" the 1970's weirdness of ESP, the Age of Aquarius, or witchcraft. On the contrary, most of the "health nuts"--as they were called in the 1970's--would NOT have seen any connection between weirdo "alternative spirituality" and their "health food."
So WHY would I include this recipe on "Yet Another Wicca Site"?
Blame it on the 1998 Comedy-Fantasy-Romance film Practical Magic which features the scene in which the Owens sisters and their witchy aunts enjoy "Midnight Margaritas" to the tune of "Put the lime in the coconut and..."
OR you could blame it on a 1979 episode of The Muppet Show in which Kermit the Frog sings, "Put the lime in the coconut and..." with other Muppets, including a doctor who transformed into a witch-doctor during the song.
However, prior to both, I was singing this song as a teen in the mid 70's while mixing up in our kitchen blender some NON-ALCOHOLIC concoctions, featuring lime juice and coconut milk--with different things like bananas, pinapple juice, orange juice, grape juice, limeade, selzer water, ginger ale, yogurt, ice cream, sweetened shredded coconut, honey, powdered ginger, bee pollen--all in a quest to come up with a good tasting drink to enjoy with this song.
And some of them tasted pretty bad...but others were not so awful. Who needs witchy Midnight Margaritas when you have a Lime-Coconut Smoothie?!
Yet, now I must sing the song of my youth...
Brother bought a coconut, he bought it for a dime--2014
His sister had another one, she paid it for a lime.Put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up;
You put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up;
You put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up;
You put the lime in the coconut and call the doctor, woke him up.I said "Doctor! Is there nothing I can take--"
I said "Doctor! To relieve this bellyache!"
I said "Doctor! Is there nothing I can take--"
I said "Doctor! To relieve this bellyache!""Oh, let me get this straight--"
"You put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up--
"You put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up--
"You put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up--
"You put the lime in the coconut and call the doctor; woke me up!"I said: "Doctor! Is there nothing I can take--"
I said: "Doctor! To relieve this bellyache!"
I said: "DOCTOR! Is there nothing I can take--"
I said: "DOCTOR! To relieve this bellyache!!!"
He said:
"You put the lime in the coconut and drink them both together--
"Put the lime in the coconut and you feel better!
"Put the lime in the coconut and drink 'em all up...
"You put the lime in the coconut and call me in the morning...""DOCTOR! Is there nothing I can take--"
I said: "DOCTOR! To relieve this bellyache!"
I said: "DOCTOR! Is there nothing I can take??"
I said: "DOCTOR! To relieve this bellyache!!!"I said: "Doctor! Let me get this straight."
"You put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up;
"Put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up--
"You put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up--
"Put the lime in the coconut--you're such a silly one--
"You put the lime in the coconut and drink 'em both together;
"Put the lime in the coconut and you feel better...
"Put the lime in the coconut and drink 'em all down!
"You put the lime in the coconut and CALL me in the MORNING..."Woooo Woooo
"Is there nothing I can take?"
Wooo Wooo
"To relieve this bellyache!" I said.
Oh Wooo Wooo
"Is there nothing I can take?" I said.
Wooo Wooo
"To relieve this bellyACHE!" I said
Yeah Yeah
"Is there nothing I can take?" I said
Wah Wahh
"To relieve this bellyache!" I said,
"Doctor! Is there nothing I can take?" I said
"DOCTOR! To relieve this bellyache!""Put the lime in the coconut and drink 'em both together;
"Put the lime in the coconut and then you'll feel better--
"Put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up;
"You put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up!
"You put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up...
