About 2 hours before serving, tear up about half the biscuit dough (into fourths) and place into the crock pot.
Take the other half biscuit dough, put on a microwave plate and "bake" the other biscuits in the micovave for about 50 seconds. They should look baked but not browned or crusty. Put these biscuits on top as a crust.
Set crock pot to High. Check on it in an hour. If it iis done, then turn it down to Warm. If it is not done, just allow it to cook more.
The chicken should be so tender that it will pull apart when you scoop it out of the crock pot. Make sure the "dumplings" are cooked thoroughly.
This is a very practical recipe: The electric crock pot is like a modern day cauldron when it comes to cooking up food for Neo-Pagans. At open rituals for community events, there is always a bunch of other items set aside for the communal feast after the ritual. There will be several crock pots plugged into walls on tables in the food area, keeping the food warm untill served.
This particular recipe is tied to no specific celebration. It could be served at any almost any cool or cold everning moon ritual, or one of the eight holidays, including Samhain, Yule, Imbolc, Beltain . It is also good for other pot luck events.
