Witch Money Junk Jewelry
face | obverse |
The coin in this pendant is a copy of an old Roman coin, apparently depicting one of the Caesars. The obverse shows a soldier. Note the knotted ribbon and phallic charm. According to Leland, the streghe would use old coins in various charms. These were referred to as "witch money" or "witch medals." When one has a witch medal or witch money made into a pendant, one will be free of all sorcery. It should be stressed this is not an actual Italian charm, but a junk jewelry imitation, which I stumbled across.
