Preheat a slow cooker on high setting for 15 minutes. Add walnut halves and butter, stirring to mix well. Add powdered
sugar, and mix until coated evenly. Cover and cook on high setting for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to low setting. Cook,
uncovered, stiring occasionally for 2 to3 hours, until walnuts are coated with a crisp glaze. Transfer sweet walnuts to a
seving bowl. combine spices in a small bowl and sprinkle over walnuts, stirring to coat evently. Let cool completely. Store
in an airtight container.
- 1lb. walnut halves
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
This is not an Italian recipe, but I offer it in honor of the streghe who met under the walnut tree at Benevento. I haven't
tried making it yet.
